When setting up a test plan for a website, a.o. the following information should be available:

• Expected number of users for the website
• Type of users and their hardware
• Response times
• Underlying server technology, including database
• Desired security level
• Browser based or an application that acts "over the web", with f.i. SOAP

Within the test plan for the website, information is recorded like:

• Performance criteria and server load
• Logical test cases
• Security test scenarios
• Back-up scenarios with their tests

The majority of the test plan for websites is also applicable to many of the Web Based applications, as a large part of the user interaction is being handled by the same technology.
