Open Source could be a proper alternative for Software Testing Tools.

Before choosing a tool, the next aspects need to be clarified:

• Is a coupling with other systems needed ?
• Are team member allowed to make their own adaptions ?
• How will the operational management of the tool be organized?
  • This project only ? (maybe by the test team itself ?)
  • To be used by other projects ?

There is no free lunch ! Open Source software is not free of costs!
Although the licence is free, Installation, Configuration, and operational management still cost valuable time.
